This lovely piece is a Danish Biedermeier wardrobe, or housekeeper's cupboard dating from the mid-19th Century. Crafted from pine, it has a soft and mellow tone, and includes original escutcheon plates. Open the cabinet door to reveal four shelves and ample space for storing your belongings. Below, a drawer with the most charming scalloped edge detail offers additional storage space.

Petite in stature at 36.75”w x 72”h, we can think of so many uses for this cabinet. From a kitchen or hallway, to folded clothing or linen storage in a bedroom, bathroom or laundry. It even comes with an original skeleton key which can be used to operate the antique door lock.

This piece features many of the identifying characteristics of the Biedermeier style such as: a simple and elegant form, an emphasis on the grain of the wood, restrained ornamentation, and that characteristic canted top that we often see in pieces of this era originating in Denmark.

Condition: Light scratches, nicks, minor wood losses. Dark oil stain on the inside of the cabinet door from a prior lock repair (shown in photos). Board separation on either side of the cabinet. Overall a lovely piece, in good antique condition.
