This lovely piece is a French Empire commode dating from 1850-1870, during the reign of Napoleon III (who was the nephew of Napoleon I). Inspired by the Neoclassical era in design, it features architectural elements such as columnar supports which rest on block style feet.

This commode has been crafted from French walnut, and has drawer boxes with hand-dovetailed joinery. There is a drawer hidden in the frieze, and the commode is topped by an original black St Anne marble top. Below, three additional drawers include beautiful cast bronze escutcheon plates and original drawer pulls.

This lovely chest of drawers would make a grand statement in an entry, and would be equally useful for additional storage in a dining room, study, or bedroom

Condition: Light scratching to the marble top. Minor board separation on either side. Overall in very good antique condition
