19th C. French Louis Philippe Commode With Book-Matched Veneer and Marble Top

$4,495.00

This elegant French commode dates from the Louis Philippe period (1830-1848). It features beautifully book-matched flame mahogany veneer, and an original Sainte Anne marble top. There's a large drawer concealed in the plinth (just below the marble top). There's also a secret drawer hidden in the bottom piece of trim, a special feature that we rarely see in Louis Philippe commodes.

Below, three additional drawers constructed from French oak with hand-dovetailed joinery, offer plenty of storage. The commode rests on bracket feet, and features beautiful detailed bronze escutcheon plates. Four skeleton keys are included with the commode, and can be used to lock all four of the upper drawers. This lovely chest of drawers would be a statement-making piece in an entryway, and would be equally graceful in a dining room as a buffet or sideboard, with ample drawer space for storing dishes.

Dimensions: 50ʺW × 22.5ʺD × 36.5ʺH

Condition: There are small losses to the veneer and scratches on the marble top. The sides of the commode have minor board separation (shown in photos). Overall, this commode is in very good condition for a piece of this age.

Shipping: This piece includes complimentary shipping (within the 48 contiguous United States). Most pieces arrive within 3 weeks. Find out more about our shipping policies and timeline here
