19th C French Louis Philippe Walnut Commode With Marble Top
This gorgeous piece is a French Louis Philippe commode dating from 1830-1848. While most Louis Philippe commodes we see feature some sort of wood veneer, this piece has been constructed from solid French Walnut, making it unique and highly valuable. From the solid walnut drawer fronts, to the walnut drawer boxes with hand-dovetailed joinery, this commode has been expertly crafted.
There is a large secret drawer concealed in the plinth (just below the marble top), and it includes its' original marble top. Below, three additional drawers offer plenty of storage. This lovely chest of drawers would make a grand statement in an entry, and would be equally elegant as a buffet or sideboard in a dining room, offering ample drawer space for storing serving ware. The commode rests on bracket style feet, and includes an original skeleton key (not operational).
Dimensions: 52”W x 23”D x 40.5”H
Condition: Minor bumps and scratches; There is light separation at side panels. Minor scratches / water marks to the marble top; Lower three escutcheon plates were a later addition. The marble top sits flush with the front and rear of the commode, without the additional 1-2" overhang, as some commodes may have. Overall this is a lovely piece in very good antique condition.
Shipping: This piece includes complimentary shipping (within the 48 contiguous United States). Most pieces arrive within 3 weeks. Find out more about our shipping policies and timeline here.
