19th Century Swedish Painted Pine Storage Bench, Settle
This charming bench is a late 19th century Swedish or Eastern European painted pine storage bench. This timeless piece has a simple rail and stile back, ornamented with three stylized plant motifs. Over time and use, the light grey-blue top layer of paint has been worn away to reveal previous colors as well as the raw pine wood below. The bench seat lifts to reveal ample storage, which has been divided into two spacious compartments.

Condition: Please note that this incredible piece is an antique, not a new piece. It has plenty of nicks, scrapes, and age-related wear, all of which contribute to its charm and patina. Board separation (including on the inside of the storage compartments) is to be expected in a piece that's over 100 years old. At the back right edge of the bench seat, we note some minor damage. There's also a bit of lift in the upper left front of the bench seat, as shown in the photos. This sturdy bench has been cleaned and waxed to seal and preserve the finish, and is ready for you to enjoy for many years to come.
